919 Spotlight: Marcus Scribner

Marcus Scribner is an LA native actor who rose to fame for his character Andre Jr on the hit tv show Blackish. Scribner landed his first role as a series regular on the show when it first premiered In September 2014 and won a Peabody award in 2015. The show went on to produce a successful spinoff  “Grownish” which follows the life of Zoey -his elder sister on the show- and eventually Jr as they embark on the journey of attending college and then another prequel “Mixedish” which details the life of their mother Rainbow. The 23 year old has also garnered numerous nominations including Critics Choice, Emmy, Golden Globe, NAACP Image and SAG Awards. He has received two NAACP Image Awards, one in 2016 for Outstanding Performance by a Youth and 2019 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy. His first TV appearance was a supporting guest role on Castle (2009). In 2015 he ventured into the animation space landing a role as Buck in Disney’s The Good Dinosaur. His other animation credits include Home: Adventures with Tip and Oh and the character Bow in Netflix’s revival of She-Ra & The Princesses of Power. 

Scribners most recent body of work “How to Blow Up a Pipeline” was released in September 2022. Scribner plays a college student who falls into environmental terrorism through a classmate he meets at a climate change student rally. However this is far from Scribner true personality, when he’s not brightening our screens, Scribner can be found participating in humanitarian work around the world. A firm believer in serving your community, Scribner serves as an Ambassador for Defend our Future, a non-profit organization committed to enabling youth interested in advancing climate change and clean energy solutions. Alongside this he also serves as the chief youth innovator for the Reserve Protection Agency in South Africa, a non-profit organization committed to preserving South African ecosystems and helping to protect Africa's animals.
