919 Spotlight: Manuel Turizo

Born and raised in Monteria, Colombian singer and Best Urban Song winner of the 2023 Nuevo Tierra Awards: Manuel Turizo Zapatahe started making music at 13. The 23 year old gained popularity with his hit song “Una Lady Como Tú” in 2016 and followed up with a debut album “ADN” in 2019.

Brought up in a musical family, Turizo’s first introduction to music came about through his parents who had gifted his older brother a guitar. Turizo soon realized he had a penchant for singing and accompanied by his brother the two formed a musical duo. His hit single Una Lady Como Tú was composed with the help of his brother who played a huge role in the beginning stages of his career even serving as his producer for some time.

The 2023 Nuevo Tierra Awards took place in Colombia where Manuel Turizo styled by @brvndo wore the Mare shirt and pants look from Vrede919 Amor Fati collection and took home the award for BEST URBAN SONG for the song Los Cachos by Floor 21 and Manuel Turizo.
