ARE YOU READY FOR THE NEXT COLLECTION?

APRIL 5, 2023

Sequel to our previous collection, "Water No Get Enemy," this collection is created with the goal of having a more unisex feel for an inclusive group. During our design and sourcing process, we purchased a painting from a lovely vendor whose wife is a painter. We played around with the artwork and enhanced the colors via Photoshop to get the signature print that you see being used throughout this collection. We were drawn to this painting because it gave us imagery that depicted the wonder, serenity, and stability that can be found in the ocean occasionally.

Most denim bleaching processes are done with harsh chemicals such as Potassium Permanganate, a chemical dissolved in water to form a dark violet solution, which can be unsafe in the factory and weaken the denim's durability. Our goal was to stay clear of this product as much as possible because it is known to be unsafe to workers in the factory, affecting their lungs if inhaled repeatedly, resulting in symptoms similar to bronchitis and pneumonia.

This new collection features sustainable brightening techniques, using ozone and stonewash on two denim pieces, with the remaining pieces left in their raw denim state to maintain their original characteristics. On average, producing a single pair of jeans can take about 1,800 gallons of water. In this collection, we are exploring and being intentional about reducing water wastage by designing the change we want to see.
