919 Spotlight: Father DMW

Father DMW or Aboki Tor Ja is an excellent example of making the most out of a less than ideal situation. Basir Muhammadu Abdullahi is a multi talented artist boasting skills in music, comedy and content creation overall. His name comes from his elder brother whose name is Father and Davido's record label (DMW). Father DMW is known for posting hilarious skits on instagram as well as funny instagram lives with model Eva Apio. He is also a musical artiste signed to Davido's 30 billion gang record label with a few song features under his belt.

The 23 year old made his rise to fame in Lagos after fleeing from Borno state, his home, due to the Boko Haram insurgency. Father DMW started off as a bike rider and would visit his friend who lived in Davido’s compound. He became Davido's gateman and would run errands for Davido and his team. Eventually he started to build a fan base on instagram but lost his account after getting hacked and started gaining traction again when Zlatan Ibile created a new account for him. His instagram skits with minimal dialogue are incredibly entertaining due to their straightforward storylines. Despite his life experience, Father is determined to make a name for himself and with such an outstanding team behind him and his drive for success, he has certainly made himself an exemplary figure. 

We were able to get together with Father DMW in London to photograph him in Collection 1, his charismatic personality perfectly compliments each of the looks he is styled in making him a perfect Vrede Man
